Set In the Street

In this project, we were asked to take a picture zoomed in on the set and zoomed out. “Set in the street” is inspired by Justin Bettman because his photo’s had a set in the street. In addition, this project was also inspired by Carrie Mae Weems and was based off of her “Kitchen Table” project. n photoshop I used the black and white effect and the curve effect to make the shadow. I would take a picture of my family on the couch because when we are together, we spend a lot of time on the couch.

Set In The Street!

In this project we had to make a scene in the school lobby. We had to recreate a photo from two different photographers Justin Bettman and Carrie Mae Weems. In our group was Ashley, Alexandra, Brianna,Taniah, Tabitha, Rebecca, and Asierah. The tools I used to get these pictures are make the photo black and white, then you have to put a elliptical marque around your image, then push select modify feather, and select inverse add 250 and then you can change the color. If i could choose a place to tell my family’s story it would be at home or at a very special place they liked to be you would see a lot of food and chairs or cleaning of the kitchen. Set in the Street

This photography project is inspired by photographers Justin Bettman and Carrie Mae Weems. We used Bettman’s idea of “Set in the Street” to create a photography set in a public area that has nothing to do with the photo. We combined this idea with Carrie Mae Weems Kitchen Table Project, where she took multiple scenes at a kitchen table, all of which expressing a different emotion. For this project, we created a kitchen table set in the middle of our schools lobby. We took multiple photos with different emotions, each emotion having one photo zoomed in and one far out. For this project, I used photoshop to edit my photos. I first converted them from color to black and white. After, I zoomed out very far to 5% and used the marquee tool to create a large circle just under the light. Then, I turned feather to 200 and inversed it. Finally, I added a curved layer and edited it to make the area darker. This gave the illusion of darkness above the light. We do this because realistically if it were dark one light would not make the whole room bright, just the area under. If I were to tell my families story, I would not use the kitchen table. I would probably use the couch in front of our TV or fireplace because that’s where we all eat dinner together and spend time together. Below are 2 photos I took for this project. You can see the rest of my photos here.

Action Project

For this project, we had to take photos of thing or people that were moving or doing an action. To get good pictures we had to keep the camera still and take the picture at the right time. A challenge was making the picture look good by taking the picture at the right time and holding the camera still so it was not off. Sometimes when I took it at the wrong time and I would have too do it again. I would want to photograph someone doing a back flip. Click here for the rest of my photos

7 Days post

For this project I had to take 7 pictures of things that I am thankful for. My first picture was a picture of my mom. I am thankful for my mom because she loves me and she helps me through tough times but always make me laugh. My second photo is of my little brother. I am thankful for my little brother because he is adorable and I love him. My third photo is of Doritos. I am thankful for Doritos because they are the best chips ever made and without them I would be dorritoless and I should be thankful that I have food because some people dont. My fourth photo is a cactus. I’m thankful for cactus because they are green and why not they are amazing.. My sixth photo is of my xbox controlelr. I am thankful for my xbox because without it I would not be able to live I use my xbox so much and love it so much and some people dont have it so I am thankful that I do. My last photo is a picture of my house I am thankful for my house because without it I would not have anywhere to live and some people dont have houses so I am thankful that I do. Pictures ⬇

Set in the Street

This assignment was very fun. We had to take pictures in a built kitchen scene and edit them to make it look like we were in a real kitchen. The built scene was inspired by the photographer Justin Bettman, you can check out his website right here. The kitchen and way of editing was inspired by the photographer Carrie Mae Weems. You can view her website here. When editing these pictures in PhotoShop, we used the black and white tool, the marquee tool, and the curves tool. If I wanted to tell my family’s photo, I would take a photo outside because my family loves nature. This is one picture of the built set zoomed out, and one picture of our finished photo. You can see the rest of my finished photos here

Set in the Street

I think that this project was really fun. We had to take photos in a fake kitchen which was built in the school. Our project was inspired by Justin Bettmen. Our project set was inspired by Carrie Mae Weems. You can click the links to see their website. I used the Marquee, black and white, curves, and the cropping tool in Photoshop for this project. If I had a choice, I would take my photos in my kitchen. You would see my family and I eating, or me doing my homework. You can see the rest of my photos here.

This project is called Set in the Street where you take 4 pictures that each have a different story. It is inspired by a New York artist named Justin Bettman and Carrie Mae Weems. In photoshop I used modify, feather, black and white filter, inverse, and a curve layer. I would choose Middletown to tell my family’s story because its my hometown and I love it there.

Set in the street

This project is one where we had to set a scene of a kitchen  table. It is inspired by Carrie Mae Weems who originally created the idea to set scenes at her kitchen table.  This project was also inspired by Justin Bettman who set up props in random locations around the world. I used the oval tool in Photoshop to create a oval where the top is along the lamp. Then i set the feather to 200 and inverse the oval. I would then adjust the brightness of the photo to get the dark curve a the top. If I had to choose one place to set up scenery I would chose Washington DC because the marble buildings in the background would improve the look of the far away shot. the rest of the photos are here.
