Set in the Street

In this assignment We had to create different scenes at a kitchen table on our “Street.” Our Photographer in this project was London. My group and I were inspired by Carrie Mae Weems and her kitchen table project using Justin Bettmen set in the street. The Photoshop tools I used in my pictures was the Black and White filter and darkened the top of the picture above the light. A place I would go to tell my families story is the beach such as Ocean City, because our family loves the sunsets and warm weather to take our photo. The photos would show what we do as a family which is walking on the boardwalk, surfing in the ocean, building a sandcastle, and eating sandwiches with boardwalk fries.

Set in the Street

The set in the street photography project was inspired by Justin Bettman. The whole idea behind the In the Street project is taking pictures if everyday locations in your home that are out in cities or roads. But in 2018 the set was inspired by a photographer named Carrie Mae Weems.   And, the kitchen set was also inspired by her.  You can see the rest of my photos here.

Set In The Street

In this project, we built a kitchen set in the middle of our schools hallway. This idea was taken from the photographer Justin Bettman. His idea was to place photography sets in public. After we set all the walls up, we took turns bringing props and took pictures of different scenes that can happen in a real kitchen. After that we edited the pictures in photoshop to resemble the pictures that Carrie Mae Weems took. Carrie Mae Weems is a photographer that took different pictures of scenes that could happen or have happened, at a kitchen table. I first turned the photo black and white, then I zoomed out used the elliptical marquee to circle the top of the photo to make it darker. Then I went to modify and changed the feather to 225, then in modify I hit the inverse button. After that I clicked the graph button and dragged the line until the top of the photo was dark enough. If I could choose any place to tell my family’s story, I would also probably choose a kitchen table, because we always use it as a family, and we come together. You would definitely see pictures of me and brother laughing or me being upset because he said something rude or he made fun of me. Also you would see my mom talking to me about my day went and my grades (the grades is the scary part) when my brother is off in college. You can find the rest of my photos Here.

Set In the Streets

We need to take a picture of us doing something at a table and with a light above us. We got this idea from Justin Bettman and Carrie Mae Weems

In photo shop we used the marquee tool to give the picture the little darker part of the picture. then we also turned it black and white. If I had to choose a place it would be the couch and we would all be watching something cause we always used to watch shows. You can see the rest of my photos here.

Set in the Street

For this assignment we had to take pictures inspired by Justin Bettman. we had to take pictures of us in a “kitchen” like what Carrie Mae Weems did. This idea is to take a picture of  a set in public and that has nothing to do with your set. when I edit my pictures in Photoshop I used the cropping tool, a black and white filter,  and A elliptic marquee tool. If I had to choose a place to take to tell a story of my family. I would choose the living room. The pictures you would see are my Mom and Dad talking and my sister playing with her dolls and my brother and I watching Netflix. If you want to see the rest of the pictures click here.

Kitchen Table

During this project, we had to take black and white photos around the kitchen table. The pictures had to end up telling a story. For my groups project, we use Carrie Mae Weems as an inspiration. To edit these pictures, in photoshop, I had to use multiple tools.  I used the marque tool. If I had to take photos like this to show my family’s story, I would take them to a resturant because we love food a why not. To see the rest of my pictures click here.

(what the kitchen table scene actually looked like)

Set In The Street

In this project, we had to take 4 photos at a kitchen table with 4 different emotions that occur at a table. We brought in Chick-Fil-A to use as our food and theme. This project was inspired by Justin Bettman and Carrie May Weems. I turned my photos black and white and used the curves tool on Fireworks to make my photos look better. If I could choose a place where I would take photos with my family it would be my living room because it is where we spend most of our time together. You would see us watching T.v. and talking to each other.

Quinn’s Set In the Street

For this project, We had to use the table set and take 4 photos black and white photos. These photos should have different emotions and feelings. Also we had to take a photo of the full set in color. This project was inspired by Justin Bettman and  Carrie Mae Weems.  This two amazing people had the idea of making a story with a really cool backgrounds. They took a series of photos are these created a story line. To edit my photos I used Photoshop. In Photoshop I made my photos black and white.  Then I change the contrast and lighting.  Next, I used the elliptical tool and made a oval under the light. Then I clicked Modify. Then Clicked feather and put it in the number 200. Then I click inverse and it highlighted the top part. Then I played around with the lighting and color. In did this to all of my pictures below. We did this to make it look like we where in a real room. This made It darker above the light and so the light only shinned below. This gave it a cool effect that we were in a real dinning room. If I had to chose a place to tell my family’s story it would be in a park. You would see my brothers and I fighting, then my mom and dad yelling at us, Eating food and playing games. Also, the sun would be shinning with a bright blue sky with some clouds.

“Kenia’s Set In The Street”

In this project me and Quinn bring food to use for to take our photos, and we got four photos each of them got the name down. Also we got it a photo of the all table the reality of the place. This project is inspired by New York based photographer Justin Bettman.  In the fall of 2018 the set was inspired by the work of Carrie Mae Weems and her Kitchen Table Project.  I use Photoshop to edit my pictures. And it was fun for us we learn more interesting things we enjoy it a lot.  If I had to choose a place to tell my family story it would be in a park and my mom is gonna be angry and my brothers annoyed and I will be sad.

That’s me sad and alone.

Set in The Street

For this project we had to create 4 emotions with 4 pictures in a fake set. The photographers that created the orginal photos are Justin Bettman and Carrie Mae Weems. The photoshop tools I used were lasso, curves and black and white. If I would take a photo that would represent my family I would take it in my dining room.
