Newseum

At the Newseum, I went to the Pulitzer Prize gallery and I saw a lot of sad photos. There were pictures of war, hunger, and other emotional topics. There was also other exhibits on things like 9/11 and the Berlin wall. It was very educational and I learned a lot about the horrific events in history that make our world the way it is today.

Rule of Thirds

In this project, I used the rule of thirds in all of our photos. The rule of thirds is three imaginary lines, and you want to put the subject of the photo on one of these lines- this is to bring the eyes to this image. Then, the eyes glaze over the rest of the background, and along the next imaginary lines. The following two pictures are both photos that I took with the Rule of Thirds, and both are resting on the first line.

Portraits

we had a white and background and a lot of light and and the iso had to be really high.  and we also had to crop the photos to get out the non white things Then it worked when we had a lot of light. Click here to see my pictures: https://photos.app.goo.gl/n1L0M24DCDP2tqU13

rule of thirds

In this project, we learned and used the techniques to the rule of thirds. We made sure there was enough light to take a good picture. I liked all my photos to be near the windows or outside. Once we found a good spot we would find a good position on one of the lines. I like using the rule of thirds because using it always sets up the photo just right.

Black Background

To create the these photos, I set the exposure on the camera to low to dim the lights and posed in front of a back background. Then I went to Adobe Photoshop and made the background even darker (as needed) using the curves feature. I learned that holding the light away from the background worked better than holding it close, which didn’t work at all.

White background

in this project we had to take photos using a white background making sure there weren’t any shadows. We had to change the position of the light so there were no shadows and had to change the position of the camera so it wasn’t blurry.

Makhi's Fotos 2018-04-06 16:18:41

The photo I used was the “Kenya Mall Massacre” by Tyler Hicker because when I saw this photo it caught my eye and I was interested and read about it.  During this massacre I could see that 3 people laying down behind a counter trying to protect them self from the shooter.

Also the photo from the ” Final Salute ” by Todd Heisler this photo shows

how a army solider that died was getting into a plane by other soldiers.  While above them there were clueless people who didn’t know what was going on.

Grid

This assignment had a lot of challenges from the grind not lining up to the background not being lined up to the photo overall not coming along.  I didn’t really know how the project worked but at the end of the day I ended up completing it. My favorite lines to use were the bottom or top line because I felt as if I had a lot of room   to break the rule of 3rds.

Rule of Thirds

The rule of thirds is a rule that states that photos are more aesthetically pleasing if the subject is on on third to the right, left, bottom, or top of the image. This can be difficult because viewer’s eye must be drawn from one point to another, so the photographer needs to make sure to align the subjects correctly.
