Light Graffiti

In this project, My group and I had to stand in front of the camera in the dark gym. We had to keep the ISO settings low to let in the least amount of light, so that the flashlight can contrast the darkness. We set a timer, about 20 seconds, to take the picture, so that we would have enough time to draw a picture. What worked in this project was that we were able to get good quality pictures and use different colors to draw with. What didn’t work was that there were some finger prints on the camera, so it made the pictures smudged. What would be cool would be to add different elements of colors. The objective of this project was to make words, pictures, or images in the dark using a special filter on the camera. The hard part was writing words since you had to know how to write them backwards. Editing the photo was pretty easy like changing the contrast and controlling how bright the light should be. My 6 images are taken below.

Light Graffiti

We took our pictures using our phone lights to draw the image. Our settings made it so that the shutter stayed open for longer, and that more light was absorbed. What worked was using our phone lights and moving them around to draw an image. What didn’t work was keeping the shutter stay open for a short amount of time. It was frustrating to draw the images, as it was hard to plan out where to draw. To take the project to the next level, maybe we could have done it outside, when it was dark. Graffiti

To take the Graffiti photos my group went to to the gym with the lights turned off, cameras and our phones to use as the lighting the picture. On the camera we made sure to make the shutter 10 seconds longer so we can capture the shape of the light. What worked out well for the picture was having multiple people to draw. The difficult part was coloring yourself in because it was hard trying not to move without the help. Everyone in our group worked together to incorporate different ideas such as using different colored lights to spell out LPMS in a picture. click HERE to see more photos.

Light Graffiti

My group started taking pictures in the dark and used some sort of light object to make design in the picture. First we went in the gym in the dark and made sure there is no other trace of light in the room then the objects. We all decided what design to make with the lights so as a group we did it for about 15 seconds. Then the picture was ready. What worked was the lights to make any design that we thought was easy. What didn’t work was the designs we tried to make. One of the frustration were that when we made a design we would cover up the light but it wouldn’t work and still show up. To have a complete dark room and have better/cooler lights. Click here for the rest of my photos..

First we had to go to the gym and turn all of the lights of. Then we had to make the camera setting so the light can come in for a certain amount of time. What was difficult was doing the drawling in a certain amount of time.

Light Graffiti

My group took our pictures in our school’s main gym. Turned off all the lights so it would be pitch black so the camera could take in as much light from our flashlights as possible. On the camera’s setting, we had to leave the shutter open for as long as possible. We also had to put the ISO on the lowest setting it could go to make the background dark as possible. We used IPhone flashlights, glow sticks, colored lights, colored picture from google. First we figured out what we were going to be drawing also the pose of the person. Secondly was taking and drawing the actual picture and creating an image. What worked for my group was having multiple people drawing behind the person. Also pointing the flashlight right at the camera not away from it. What didn’t really work was it was very difficult to think of a design and try being creative and different from others. The frustrating part of this project was not having enough time to get more designs as we wanted to. Also the time limit on the camera. I could have done this after school and done a bigger picture with my own camera. Also, you could have made a little movie. In conclusion, I have learned some cool things during this project. Light Graffiti

Our assignment was to take light graffiti photos which was kind of a challenge but easy once I got it. I order to take the photos, I needed to set my cameras shutter really low between 30 seconds and a minute. Sometimes I would set it to bulb if I was unsure how much time I needed. I also had to make the ISO really low so it would capture the outside light. One thing that worked was the flashlight showing up in the photos. I a lot of things didn’t turn out the way we wanted, like the drawing was messed up and the words were spelled backwards. It frustrated us so much when we were writing words because you can’t see what your writing. My ideas for going next level is taking it outside and make like a painting. Light Graffiti

For this project, we went in the pitch black gym. To get these photos, we had to keep the camera open for 15 seconds, point our flashlights at the camera, and draw. To write words and draw pictures we had to shine our flashlights at the camera and cover up the light whenever we wanted to make a space (Draw “H”, cover light, move the light, uncover the light and draw “i”). To do the pictures with people in then, we followed the drawing steps but then shone the light on the person we wanted to show, to “paint” them. When we were doing our backgrounds, it was hard for everyone to work together and not have many lights going on top of each other. I think if we could leave the camera open for longer we could have less pressure to rush the picture and make a bigger and better scene. Here are my other pictures.
