Smile Project

What was difficult was getting random people to let us take a picture of them. I saw that they are two different people when they smile and don’t smile. It could make you photo turn out different. I would ask them what would you like to do for this photo based on you background.

Smile Project

This project was pretty difficult because I hate talking to people I don’t know. As the people looked normal, some of them were scary and intimidating. However, once they smiled, that changed, and they looked like new people. If I was a photographer and I didn’t get to know people, then  I could really miss out on meeting a kind new face. I should ask my clients to be themselves when I take their photos. My pictures are here.

Smile Project

The objective of the smile project was to take photos of 15 people one smiling and one not smiling. The project shows how we judge people based on how they appear, their expressions, and their level of mood in the photo. The easy part was finding people to take pictures of because a lot of people were okay on having their photo taken. The hard part was to take the photos in different angles and moods since some people’s smiling and not smiling photos looked very similar. My photos are in google slides here

Smile Project

For this project I had to take 2 photos of 15 people smiling and not smiling. One hard thing was getting the people to let you take pictures of them because when you ask to take 2 pictures of a complete stranger of course it’s going to be weird and awkward. During the project I saw some things change like when I changed how I asked questions people started saying yes. If I saw someone really big and towering looking I like many others might hesitate to ask for their picture because of initial judgement. That’s how bias affects not just photographers but a lot of people with bias. Every time  someone allows you to take photos of them you must be polite and respectful, make sure they will allow you too.

Smile Project

For this project we had to take pictures of people and ask them to smile. It was difficult to find people to take pictures of. When the person had a natural face, they typically looked either mean or somewhat happy. But when they smiled, they were a totally different person. Bias could affect your job as a photographer because if someone looks mean or un welcoming, you might not want to take pictures of them. I would ask them about themselves and their background to get to know them more.

Smile Project

For me, the most difficult part of this project was to tell people not to smile. They felt awkward, and didn’t really want to take the picture anymore. Some people looked very different when they smiled. They looked very mean and scary when they made a serious face. Although, once they smiled, they looked like a complete different person. Bias can affect photographers because they might want to take pictures of people, but might ignore some people because they don’t want to bother someone since they look intimidating. If I was taking pictures of people, I would ask them what they’re looking for in the picture. Here is my favorite picture:
