It is the end of my semester in photography. I had a good semester and i’m sad to leave photography, but also looking forward to taking tech ED. This class definitely changed my thoughts about photography. I now know to look deeper than what is in the middle of the picture. I now implicate the rule of thirds into my pictures. My favorite project was Catch the Action because we got to play with a football and soccer ball. Photography doesn’t interest me as a career, but more as a hobby. I do not know yet if I will take it in high school next year.
7 Days
UP CLOSE
SEE ALL OF MY PICS HERE
For this project, we had to take pictures of things up close. I thought it would be easy, but I was wrong. I did have a lot of of fun with this project because I could fin objects outside to take pictures of. If I could, I would like to go to the amazon rainforest and take pictures there because there would be a lot of cool insects to take pictures of.
Set in the Streets
See all my photos here.
This project is a combination of two ideas. Set in the streets by Justin Bettman and Kitchen Table by Carrie Mae Weems. For obvious reasons, we could not take pictures in the streets. Instead, we took pictures in our school hallway. If I were to take pictures of the place that tells my family’s story it would be in our living room.
Catch The Action
We set up this project well. We made the most with a football and soccer ball. We also jumped over a bench. Setting the shutter to a high speed really helped. If I was a professional photographer, I would like to take pics at hockey games.
Smile
For this project we had to take pictures of random people. We would take pictures of people smiling and not smiling to see the difference it makes on there image. I learned that facial expression totally changes the whole picture. See my photos here.
1 Object, 5 Shots
This project we had to take the same picture, from 5 different places. The picture above is of my dog. I took pictures from above, below and from the side. I took pictures of my dog, a bouncy ball and a hockey puck. This project was challenging to find more angles.
Infinite White Background
This project required leaving the shutter open to reduce shadows. This was hard, but we were allowed to use Adobe Photoshop to reduce shadows. I had a hard time taking the pictures because I wasn’t patient when the shutter was open.
Infinite black background
For this project we had to leave the shutter open for longer to make sure there were no shadows or light in the picture. In the picture above, David is posing with a shoe on his head with no light or shadows. It was challenging to find out the length we had to leave the shutter open for.
24 Colors
This assignment required us to be creative. We had to take 24 pictures of different colored crayons. I tried to take creative pictures, not just a white crayon on a white wall. It was fun going around the school taking pictures.
