Final Project

This whole semester was a huge learning experience and a time to really learn about photography. Throughout the whole semester, I learned and a ton of new skills that I am excited to apply to my everyday life. My view on photography has definitely changed, it showed how much harder it is, that there are different skills and you need more than a camera to take the photo. I take photos a whole new way, I take an account the setting, the way I am holding the camera and many more. I think that I take much better photos now than I did before I was in photography. My favorite project was the 7-day project because I got to take pictures of photos that I could use and cherish forever and that it was also an easy project since I knew what I wanted to take the pictures of. Photography definitely interests me because I get to keep my memories with me in photo form, and I would love to do that a career and help other people cherish memories. I think that I will continue learning photography in high school because I have a real interest in photography and I think I can also really become great photography. Therefore over the course of the 18 weeks, I learned a ton about photography and that I will really miss this class, but I won’t stop taking photos and growing as photography.

Getting Close

In this project we had to take photos of living and nonliving objects, but very close up. In this project we had to find an object and zoom in on the photo in order to get it very close up. I picked an object that I wanted to take a picture of, then I would place my phone at an angle. After that I would continue to zoom enough before the object would get blurry. I used different features of my phone such as zooming in while having my phone at an angle, etc. The biggest challenge for me was finding objects that I was interested and it still looking cool when I zoomed in. I would like to photo graph up close some type of marine life. If you would like to see the rest of my photos, click here.

Set in the Street

In this project, we had to create a scene in the middle of anywhere and takes photos. My class created a dining room scene in the lobby of our school. The point of our project was to take a picture as if you were in the location, but then you would take a photo zoomed out so the people who were looking at the photos could see the actual location. This scene was inspired by Carrie Mae Weems, who is famous for her vignette looking photos that are taken in her dining room. We also were inspired by the location of the photos of Justin Bettman who would set up a scene in a street and take the pictures, the pictures would look as if they were at that location being portrayed and not in the street. I used many things to edit my photos such as making the top of the photo darker just like Carrie Mae Weems. I first turned the photo black and white give the vingette feel, then I zoomed out used the elliptical marquee to circle the top of the phot to make it darker. Then I went to modify and changed the feather to 225, then in modify I hit the inverse button. After that I clicked the graph button and dragged the line until the top of the photo was dark enough. I would tell my family stories at our kitchen table, because that protrays our life the best way I could think of. You could see half of my family eating dinner because we are just super busy, or you could see my grandparents and I play cards together, etc. If you would like to see the rest of my photos, click here.

Action Shots!

In this project we had to take pictures of people or things in action. Many things helped me create a great image. Such as, telling my friends to move or just seeing an item and thinking, this would look good in action. One things that helped me a ton was having my camera on burst so I could capture everything, that would be my one major tip. I would take a picture of a soccer match beacause there are many different action shots you could get and I understand the game very well so I would be easy for me. 7 days

This project truly showed all I have to be thankful for in my life. It made me take a moment and see I have.

In this picture my family and I are watching football and just enjoying each others company. I am very thankful for all the memories I have with my family. Although, we all may disagree about team (Go Browns!), we all enjoy commentating the game together.

This picture is my cousin, my brother and my uncle in a huddle, talking about their game plan. I am very thankful for the time we have playing outside for hours and just having the best time ever. Even though at the end someone isn’t happy because they lost, we are able to look back at those hilarious times later.

In this selfie, my family friends and my family are taking a road trip to out thanksgiving dinner. I am very thankful for the crazy road trips I have with family and friends because it really shows us how much we can handle each other.
This is a picture of someone of my teammates during one of our freezing practices. I am super thankful for my soccer teammates because they are some of my best friends and I can tell them anything. Also, we can be very competitive with each other on the field, but when we come off the filed with are back to being best friends.

This is a picture of my family, I am very thankful for my family because they are so supportive and fun to be around. I am especially thankful for my family because we also I have the best time together. Some of my amazing memories are with my family.
I am very thankful for soccer, because it has brought me so much joy in my life and taught me a lot of different valuable lessons. Soccer is one sport that a lot of my friends and family can enjoy together, which is probably one of the main reasons that I love it so much.

This is a picture one of many picture of my best friends. I am extremely thankful for my friends because most of the time they make life so much more crazy and enjoyable. Also, I have had so many more amazing experiences with friends and learned to enjoy so much more, with friends.

Smile

In this project, we had to take 2 pictures, one of someone smiling and one of them not smiling. This would give whoever was looking at the photos a different perspective about the person and not to automaticly think about stereotypes. The most difficult part of the project was honestly putting them on the presentation and making sure the photos looked even. When I looked at the different photos I definitely saw a difference, it showed me who the person really was once they smiled. Bias could affect a ton of things as a photographer such as the way the photographer wants to portray the photo or how they want people to see/feel when looking at the photo. I should ask what they want people to think of you when they look at the photo. This project really opened my eyes to different perspectives. If you would like to see all my photos, click here

Light Graffiti

Light graffiti was probably the best project so far. Although, it was hard to set up, once we had the correct setting it was so easy. We set our camera to bulb. That allowed us to have as much time as we needed to create the picture. There was many things that worked in this project. Such as setting it to bulb because it allowed us to have the most time to take the picture. There was definitely so challenges with this project. We had to figure out how to make the shot clean and easy to see. The most frustrating thing was when our group had such a good idea, but it didn’t work no matter how many times we tried. We could take this project to the next level by adding objects to light up and a ton of people. If you would like to see the rest of my photos click here.

Rule of Thirds

Rule of Thirds was an easy project once, we figured out what worked. What worked best for my group was taking the picture and leaving a bit of space to one side. Therefore, if we needed to crop it we wouldn’t need to retake the shot. There was a few things that didn’t work in this project. Such as, taking pictures of more than one object with the rule of thirds grid. Since, we could really figure out where to place the object or person in the frame of the camera. How I used the lines to make sure my photo was rule of third was, by having my point of interest on one of the lines. If you would like to see the rest of my photo, click here

Black Background

In this project we had to make the background of the pictures we took pitch black. We had to keep changing the ISO so enough light would shine on our faces, but not on the background because that would give a shadow. Once, we figured out the correct way to hold the light and the correct ISO, it made the project just a little bit easier. The most challenging thing was finding a good way to hold the light so it would shine on our faces, but not on the background. This project was probably one of the hardest project because there was so many things that you had to make sure where in the right place. The rest of my photos are down below.

Infinite Background

This project was the most creative project we have had so far because we had the most freedom of the pictures. In this project we had to stand in front of a white background with light shining on the background. When we were starting to take the picture we had to adjust the ISO to make the camera more sensitive to light. This allowed us get the infinite background. In this project many things worked to help us get the infinite background. When we took the picture we had to stand in front of the light so it would light up the background. This helped us a lot so there was no shadows and that the background was properly lit. Although, this project was fairly easy there was definitely some challenges. For example, just getting the ISO at the correct setting so enough light would get into the camera lens. Down below are all my pictures that I took of my group and pictures that me group took of me.
