This whole semester was a huge learning experience and a time to really learn about photography. Throughout the whole semester, I learned and a ton of new skills that I am excited to apply to my everyday life. My view on photography has definitely changed, it showed how much harder it is, that there are different skills and you need more than a camera to take the photo. I take photos a whole new way, I take an account the setting, the way I am holding the camera and many more. I think that I take much better photos now than I did before I was in photography. My favorite project was the 7-day project because I got to take pictures of photos that I could use and cherish forever and that it was also an easy project since I knew what I wanted to take the pictures of. Photography definitely interests me because I get to keep my memories with me in photo form, and I would love to do that a career and help other people cherish memories. I think that I will continue learning photography in high school because I have a real interest in photography and I think I can also really become great photography. Therefore over the course of the 18 weeks, I learned a ton about photography and that I will really miss this class, but I won’t stop taking photos and growing as photography.
Getting Close
In this project we had to take photos of living and nonliving objects, but very close up. In this project we had to find an object and zoom in on the photo in order to get it very close up. I picked an object that I wanted to take a picture of, then I would place my phone at an angle. After that I would continue to zoom enough before the object would get blurry. I used different features of my phone such as zooming in while having my phone at an angle, etc. The biggest challenge for me was finding objects that I was interested and it still looking cool when I zoomed in. I would like to photo graph up close some type of marine life. If you would like to see the rest of my photos, click here.
Set in the Street
In this project, we had to create a scene in the middle of anywhere and takes photos. My class created a dining room scene in the lobby of our school. The point of our project was to take a picture as if you were in the location, but then you would take a photo zoomed out so the people who were looking at the photos could see the actual location. This scene was inspired by Carrie Mae Weems, who is famous for her vignette looking photos that are taken in her dining room. We also were inspired by the location of the photos of Justin Bettman who would set up a scene in a street and take the pictures, the pictures would look as if they were at that location being portrayed and not in the street. I used many things to edit my photos such as making the top of the photo darker just like Carrie Mae Weems. I first turned the photo black and white give the

This project truly showed all I have to be thankful for in my life. It made me take a moment and see I have.
Smile
In this project, we had to take 2 pictures, one of someone smiling and one of them not smiling. This would give whoever was looking at the photos a different perspective about the person and not to automaticly think about stereotypes. The most difficult part of the project was honestly putting them on the presentation and making sure the photos looked even. When I looked at the different photos I definitely saw a difference, it showed me who the person really was once they smiled. Bias could affect a ton of things as a photographer such as the way the photographer wants to portray the photo or how they want people to see/feel when looking at the photo. I should ask what they want people to think of you when they look at the photo. This project really opened my eyes to different perspectives. If you would like to see all my photos, click here.
Light Graffiti
Light graffiti was probably the best project so far. Although, it was hard to set up, once we had the correct setting it was so easy. We set our camera to bulb. That allowed us to have as much time as we needed to create the picture. There was many things that worked in this project. Such as setting it to bulb because it allowed us to have the most time to take the picture. There was definitely so challenges with this project. We had to figure out how to make the shot clean and easy to see. The most frustrating thing was when our group had such a good idea, but it didn’t work no matter how many times we tried. We could take this project to the next level by adding objects to light up and a ton of people. If you would like to see the rest of my photos click here.
Rule of Thirds
Rule of Thirds was an easy project once, we figured out what worked. What worked best for my group was taking the picture and leaving a bit of space to one side. Therefore, if we needed to crop it we wouldn’t need to retake the shot. There was a few things that didn’t work in this project. Such as, taking pictures of more than one object with the rule of thirds grid. Since, we could really figure out where to place the object or person in the frame of the camera. How I used the lines to make sure my photo was rule of third was, by having my point of interest on one of the lines. If you would like to see the rest of my photo, click here.
Black Background
In this project we had to make the background of the pictures we took pitch black. We had to keep changing the ISO so enough light would shine on our faces, but not on the background because that would give a shadow. Once, we figured out the correct way to hold the light and the correct ISO, it made the project just a little bit easier. The most challenging thing was finding a good way to hold the light so it would shine on our faces, but not on the background. This project was probably one of the hardest project because there was so many things that you had to make sure where in the right place. The rest of my photos are down below.
Infinite Background
This project was the most creative project we have had so far because we had the most freedom of the pictures. In this project we had to stand in front of a white background with light shining on the background. When we were starting to take the picture we had to adjust the ISO to make the camera more sensitive to light. This allowed us get the infinite background. In this project many things worked to help us get the infinite background. When we took the picture we had to stand in front of the light so it would light up the background. This helped us a lot so there was no shadows and that the background was properly lit. Although, this project was fairly easy there was definitely some challenges. For example, just getting the ISO at the correct setting so enough light would get into the camera lens. Down below are all my pictures that I took of my group and pictures that me group took of me.
