I am thankful for my mom because she supply’s my needs like food, water, cloths, and a roof on our head. i’m also thankful for my little sister because she makes me happy

.

I’m thankful for my skateboarding because it makes me happy when i’m down and it teaches me patience, determination, and falling and getting back up to try again.

Last project

This semester was a very fun one. we were given easy and challenging projects like: 24 crayons, and black background ETC, all the way up to this project. This class changed the way i see photography. at first i just took pictures of interesting things, but now i look for stuff like rule of thirds or some action photos. my favorite project was the up close and the black background because i took really great pictures and they were challenging. for the up close we basically needed patience to find the right photo. for the black background we needed to keep adjusting the camera settings and keep messing around with the lighting so that the only thing that appears in the picture is what the light is shinning on. I think i will do photography as a side career or do it on my free time. i cant decide on my favorite photo so i will put 4 of my favorite photos.

Action Photos

For this project we had to take photos of people in motion. my favorite picture i took was a P.O.V of me skateboarding. I had my GoPro mounted on my helmet to get the shot i wanted.  I had a friend press the button to take a burst photo when he heard the pop of my board.(Phones can be used as a controller for a GoPro). some tips are, if you have the right lighting and make the shutter speed faster it will make the picture more clear. another tip is to tilt your camera upwards little bit. This will make it appear that if a person is jumping it will look higher than it actually was.

Smile!

For this project we needed to take 2 pictures of Different people or strangers smiling and not smiling. the most difficult thing was asking people if they would allow me to take there picture and most refused. I thought some people were poor or very tired but when they smiled it was a completely different story that is how bias can affect a photographer on the way they see people before they know them. ilearned that the best thing to ask was. “May I take your picture for a project please, it wont be shown publicly.

Up close

For this project we used cameras on super macro to get up close to something but not zooming in. one of the challenges was finding Interesting things like insects. one struggle is if your camera has auto focus or auto super macro then sometimes it wont focus when you want it to. If i had the chance i would get an up close shot of a snake or a spider.

Light Graffiti

For this project we had our camera settings on ISO 100, and on bulb mode. First you want to turn your lights off if your indoors and go to a dark place if your outside. when you are drawing, make sure that your light is pointed towards the camera and not away. If you want the background to be visible you would take your light and point it away from the camera and flood it with light. It could be frustrating if you don’t have bulb mode because you will have to put a timer. Also, if something needs to be perfect but you mess it up will be frustrating.

Photo app review

Worm: Worm is mainly a filming app but you can ONLY get photos/covers from a video that is over 60 fps. It is used for extreme sports like skateboarding, BMX, snowboarding/skiing, swimming, you could also use drones for scenery, and other sports. The cool thing about worm is that you can hold down the video and it will play in slow-mo. this app is my favorite because i am a skateboarder and i want to see what others post and i want people to see my post and progression in skateboarding.

Instagram: Instagram is a social media app that lets you take photos and videos and upload/post them into your story or permanently into your profile. I personally like it because there are different communities and you can upload a lot of things that interest you and/or others.

Newseum

we went and saw really cool things and photos. the Pulitzer prize photos were really amazing and some were terrifying like this one.

White Background

In this project we had to change the shutter speed so that the background can be more white. What worked was when we changed the shutter speed to a lower speed. What didn’t work was the lighting, we had to find the right angle for the light. the white background and black background were very different. For example, we had all the main lights off for the black background and we needed as much light as possible. we needed a slow shutter speed for the black background and an even slower shutter speed for the white. The black background was easier because of the lighting we had.
