Final Post

This semester in photography was great. First, we did a crayon project, then portraits, then light graffiti, the rule of 3rds, smile, museum, and scavenger hunt. Before this class, I thought photography was boring but it’s not. Now if I take photos I edit them and use different angles and rule of 3rds. My favorite project was light graffiti because it was cool to see drawings with light. I don’t think I will be a photographer but I have become better at taking photos. Next year in high school I will probably choose photography as an art class.

Smiles

Smiles

This project was about taking photos of people who were not smiling and smiling and see if the way we see them changes from one photo. A few people really changed the way they look from smiling and not smiling. It was challenging because some people didn’t want there pictures taken so it was hard finding people who did. My job as a photographer is to not stereotype anyone and to be as respectful as possible. Some people looked very different when they were smiling and not smiling. I learned a lot from this project.

Plane entering south tower

Image result for pulitzer prize 911

This is the photo of the second plane hitting the world trade center. Fire explosions erupted. The photos was taken the second it went into the tower. This photo drew me because 911 was a very terrible day and I to see photos of that day. If  I was a photographer I would be speechless and sad. I couldn’t do anything to help them all I could do is watch the terror happen. Some rewards are getting the perfect photo and maybe even winning.

This is a picture of a Filipino family grieving after the death of their dad. His daughter was crying. The president killed him because he thought he was a criminal but he was innocent. If I was that photographer I would be very sad. It is very depressing and I would remember it forever. I don’t think there are any rewards other than getting attention and maybe money.

This is the JFK exhibit. I really liked this because he was a very cool president and person. My favorite pieces were all of his photos. It fit in very well because they were in the media a lot.

Set In the Street

Set In the Street

Over the past week and a half we built the “Set In the Street”. The “Set In the Street” is a room that you build in the middle of a street but because we were in school we built it in the atrium. For our room we decided on a modern living room. First we had to build the frame out of wood. We made 3 pieces of wood, each piece was 4 feet by 8 feet. Then the next day we laid drywall onto it and put try wall paint onto the screw holes. The 3rd day we sanded off the extra drywall paint and painted the wall gray. Then it came to putting it all together. We clamped it all together and brought down items to make it a living room. Some students stayed after school to put the finishing touches. They went to the teachers lounge and brought down sofas and a bookshelf. They filled the bookshelf with books which took a lot of time. We hung up a photos of our school and put cards on the coffee table. The same day at arts night we kept a camera there so anyone who wanted to could sit and take a photos in the living. Overall this project taught me many building techniques and was a very fun project.

Thankful Post

Thankful Post

I am thankful for my house. I am thankful for my house because it was a lot of memories were made and that’s where I stay warm. I am fortunate to have a shelter that I can come to when I get home everyday.

I am thankful for America. America is the place where I was born and raised in. The American flag represents my freedom.

I am thankful for school kinda. School is where i made a lot of my friends and I learn here. Sometimes school is very boring but it’s the place where I learn and excel.

I am thankful for books. Books represent education and learning for me. Which is an opportunity for the rest of my life and can get me ready for college and so on.

I am thankful for my family. I’ve had many memories with them like vacations and celebrating holidays and things. They are very loving and I can ask them for anything.

I am thankful for nature because I like going outside and playing outside. Its also really cool to see all of the colors and weather outside.

I am thankful for many things in my life but these are the most important things to me.

Rule of thirds

Rule of thirds

For this project I went into the settings of my phone and turned on the camera grid. The grid helped with creating rule of thirds photos because it put lines on the screen which meant we could align the line with the person or item. The rule of thirds helps because it makes photos more attractive and nice to the eye. The project was especially hard because we had to get the focus in one third of the grid and make sure the object was the most important thing in the photos. This project was fun because we got to experiment with different backgrounds inside and outside.

Lit Graffiti

Lit Graffiti

This project was very fun but very challenging. To make sure the light was drawn we had to make sure that the light was facing the camera and make sure to not drag the light around.  If we did then there would be light streaks in the photo. We had to change the shutter speed to be very long so it could take in all of the light. For the picture above I light steel wool on fire and spun it. All the sparks would be taken into the camera which made it look very cool. I also edited some of these pictures in Adobe photo shop. I changed the exposure, curves and many other things.

White Background

White Background

I don’t have a picture of myself because I didn’t make the cut?!?!?

First to take the photos I changed the manual setting on the camera to make the back ground invisible. I also clipped external lights to objects around the background to make sure that that the background was fully white and infinite. I used adobe Photoshop to edit these white background photos. I changed the curves and changed the hue and saturation. As you can see, the background is infinite and you cant see it. Some challenges of this project were to make sure there were no shadows on the white background.

Picture taken and edited by Adam Gotkin

This week in class we took photos and edited them into black and white. We stood in front of a black background and used chairs and other items as props. On the camera we used the manual setting to make the photos dark and changed the ISO, shutter speed and f-stop. We used external lights to make the light come in from different angles. After we took the photos we used Adobe Photoshop to edit them. We messed with the curves and light levels. I also changed the hue and saturation.

Ansh’s App Review-Computer

I used befunky has a new app for my app review.  Befunky is an online free app that is used to edit photos to make them better. It gives you the option of using filters, blush, and putting frames around the pictures. You can also put text around it. This was a very effective site for my app review.
