Final Post

This semester was fun. I learned a lot of things in this class and in this final project, I was able to display off of my skills. You will also notice in every single one of my projects Parmach makes an appearance as my typical model. This project was nice, easy, and simple. This class was pretty stress free, but boy am I glad it’s done. I was able to find all of my pictures easily. I’m glad I was able to improve my photography skills that I will most likely use subconsciously in the future.

Newseum

This is a picture of the South tower of the World Trade Center imploding. This is a Pulitzer Prize winning photo that was taken the morning of September 11th 2001. This image moved me because this is a day that changed America forever.  It changed the way thousands of Americans went about their lives and impacted everyone for years to come. 2,996 people lost their lives on this fateful day.

This picture is another Pulitzer Prize winning photo.  This picture shows a man lying in a coffin while his family, including his 4 year old daughter, cries over his corpse. The Filipino president had ordered 100,000 deaths for drug lords across the Philippines. Many innocent people were killed simply for just being in the wrong place at the wrong time. This photo moved me because it’s not fair that people had to die even though they didn’t commit any crimes.

This picture is of the Berlin Wall. The Berlin Wall  stood for 30 years separating East and West Berlin. This image reads “Act Up!” which was a slogan for the oppressed people that wanted the wall down and to be free.  I found this image particularly fascinating because it shows a piece of history that some people might not see. However, it is uplifting that people were able to”Act up” and were able to “Tear down this wall.”

Set in the Street

For this project we did something called “Set in the Street”. This was started by a photographer in New York that built sets in different populated places. Except these sets were out of place. Our set was of a living room that we built in the atrium of our school. The purpose of this was to take pictures of subjects and have them act like they were in there own living room. This presented some challenges. Challenges like creating three walls from scratch and fitting an 8 foot tall wall through a 7 foot tall door. This project however was a lot less stressful and a lot more fun than the typical projects we do.

7 Days

My first picture is of nature. I am thankful for nature because it has a calming sense about it and helps cool my nerves.

My second picture is of food. I am thankful for my food because it gives me energy and fills my stomach.

The third picture is of my friends. I am thankful for my friends because they are there for me when no one else is.

My fourth picture is of books. I am thankful for books because they help fill my head with knowledge.

My fifth picture us of my school. I am thankful for my school because it gives me  a safe environment to help pursue my dreams.

My sixth picture is of my dog. I am thankful for my dog because she is my constant friend 24/7.

My final is picture is of Ansh. I am thankful for Ansh because he takes great pictures and is an amazing DJ

Rule Of Thrids

For this project I was tasked with using the Rule Of Thirds. The Rule of Thirds is when there is a tic tac toe like grid across what you are taking a picture of.  The goal is to line up the focus points with the lines and cross sections of the grids. This is because the human eye is naturally drawn to those points. This project was especially challenging when trying to capture a motion shot and keep it along those lines. Also when I would take a photo, by habit, I would try and put it in the center of the frame so I quickly had to break that habit or I would fail terribly. Overall, this project was fun trying to catch the pictures happening in the moment and make the observer drawn to those points.

I was not able to upload all of my photos from my cell phone due to technical difficulties.

Light Graffiti

In this project we were painting with light. We had to isolated our subject by lighting them up in advance while another member of the group drew designs or patterns around them. In this project the shutter speed was extremely important. The shutter speed determined how much time we had to draw around the person and how much light was taken in. After we used Photoshop to edit the curves and make it more visually appealing. Another important aspect to this project was that the subject must stay completely still. If they were to move they may end up with two heads which no one wants.

Portraits-White Background

In this project we attempted to fill a photo with light and create an infinite background. I edited the shutter speed so that it would capture just enough light to capture my subject. I isolated the subject of the photo and then edited the curves to create am infinite background.

Portraits-Black Background

For this project the goal was to create a professional grade portrait with a traditional camera.  I isolated the subject of my photo and edited the shutter speed to prevent the picture from being flooded with light. It was difficult to not include a shadow in my picture. However, once taken, removing the light was easy.

App Review

The app I am reviewing is SnapChat. SnapChat is a social working app used to share pictures with your friends. SnapChat also allows you to send texts although these texts disappear after you close the conversation.  This app is one of my favorite apps because it allows me to communicate with my friends and share share what I’m doing in the moment.

The website I am reviewing is Fotor. Fotor allows you to edit your pictures and create your ideal self. Whether that means weight loss or rosy cheeks Fotor can do it. However, I didn’t like Fotor  because of all of the pop up adds that disrupt your editing process.

24 Colors

In this project our challenge was to match 24 crayons to 24 objects of the same color. This project presented many challenges and frustrations such as finding a color only to find out it is off by just one shade.  The project on paper seems pretty easy, find some crayons and match them,  but in reality it’s quite difficult. The easiest color to find was scarlet while the hardest color to find was indigo. This project makes you realize how much color there is in the world.
