Last Project

Throughout this whole semester, we worked on taking pictures with different angles and how to edit pictures a certain way. We also made our own logo to put on our pictures that we took. At first I thought photography was just taking a picture and you’re done, but it’s definitely more then just taking the picture itself. Thought has to go into the picture and then after you have to edit the picture, and after you’re finished with all that you have to put your logo on it, so my opinion on photography has definitely changed this semester. I have changed the way I take pictures, now I use the rule of thirds a lot when I take pictures which helps a lot in the end. My favorite project was probably this one because it pretty much combined all our projects together which I think is really cool. If I’m being honest, after this class, photography does interest me as a career because it seems so interesting to me and there’s so many things you could take pictures of and so many ways to take those pictures which I love and I could see also becoming a hobby. I don’t know for sure yet if I want to continue learning this in high school but I probably will based off of my experience in this class. My favorite picture is of is of the hallway I took because Ella looks like she’s lost.

Getting Close

This project was about going up to living and non-living objects and taking pictures of those objects up close. When I was taking pictures, what worked really well for me was getting close to the object and getting farther away until it focused on the object. The only new thing I did for this project was taking the pictures all the way up close which was actually pretty interesting to do. There wasn’t any challenges I came across when doing this project considering it was pretty easy to do. Since I walk to school, I can just take some during that time. Sometimes when I was trying to get close to an object, the camera wouldn’t focus so I had to keep moving the camera until it did focus. If I had the time and money, I would like to photograph the Eiffel Tower from the bottom up. Here is a like to all my pictures.

Set In The Street

This project is based around a kitchen table in a place or location where someone built a set and a person takes a picture while set zoomed in and one zoomed out. Each person in our group took one of the picture ( Lauren, Ella, and Emilia ). To edit my pictures, I used photo shop. The tools I used in photo shop, to edit my pictures was the feather tool, as well as the lasso to darken the picture at the top. If I had to choose a location to take pictures to tell my families story, I would choose our second living room. If I took pictures with my family, you would see me watching TV with my two dogs on my lap. Another picture you would see is, my parents sitting on the couch eating dinner, and me sitting on the floor eating my dinner.

Catch the Action

For this project we had to take pictures of people in action. So we had to think of things from the background, camera angles, composition ( by that I mean rule of 3rds ), and lighting. For this project I used my phone as the camera. I didn’t do much with the camera to get the pictures but I already had the grid on my camera. When it cam to taking the actual pictures, I would tap on the screen so my camera would focus more on the person so the picture wouldn’t end up blurry. Some tips I would give someone who is trying to do this project, is to get different angles for each picture because then it would make each picture together look more better. Also, when doing this project you definitely need to be creative with this project, you don’t need to, but it definitely helps. If I could, I would want to take pictures at a baseball game when the batter is hitting the ball. Here is a link to all my pictures.

7 Days Of Black & White

For one week ( seven days ) I took pictures of objects, and people that mean a lot to me.

The first picture I took is of my dogs. I’m thankful that even though they can’t do everything a normal person can, they still help me feel better whenever I’m down. They tend to always find a way to be around me which I always found funny, because they love attention just as much as me so  don’t mind one bit. My first dog, Lola ( a Boston Terrier ) is special to me because my mom and I have had her since I was in second grade, so whenever we had to move to a different state, she would always be there, and she’s been through a lot with our family. My second dog, Loki, ( a French Bulldog ) is also very special to me because even though he’s just recently joined our family and has probably the most problems any dog has probably ever had, he still makes me laugh anytime of dog.

The second picture I took is of my cheer shoes. I’m thankful for me being able to do cheer in general because before I even knew competitive cheer existed, I didn’t have a lot of things or hobbies that I was that into, I may have done soccer, gymnastics, and cross country, but I wasn’t really looking forward to those activity’s during the beginning of the week because it just wasn’t something I was passionate about. And even after I did a couple activity’s I would take a brake which ended up being longer then expected. I thought I would never find something I was happy and passionate about doing but when I was pushed to start doing competitive cheer, I don’t think I could ever stop doing it.

The third picture I took was of my mom. I’m definitely thankful for my mom because she helps me a lot in general. We may have had a few fights or “disagreements” as I like to call them, we always make up in the end because we can’t stand being mad at each other. She helps a lot with my homework and doesn’t just give me the answers, and even though I get mad about that, I know she’s just doing it for my own good. She’s even the one who pushed me to do cheer, which I could not be more happy and thankful for.

The fourth picture I took was of my friend Julia Willimann. I’m very thankful for her because she’s one of the few friends that understands me and me with her so I think that’s why we get along so well. We tell each other pretty much everything, and I like how we can joke about stuff that other people would find weird.

The fifth picture I took was of food. I’m thankful for food because first off you kind of have to eat to survive. My parents think I’m a picky eater which used to be true but now I love to try new foods everyday.

The sixth picture I took is of my house. I’m thankful for my house, even though it might seem weird I truly an thankful for it because my family tends to move a lot considering my parents are in the military, so this is the first house my parents have actually owned which I’m not used to so its a great change for all the houses and apartments we’ve lived in before.

The seventh picture I took is of hair ties. I may sound silly but being a girl with long hair you tend to put your hair up a lot. They make it easy to put your hair up and they’re easy to use which makes them good to use.

Then I Asked Them To Smile

This project was about taking pictures of people with them smiling and then not smiling. What was difficult about this project that I found out was that a good amount of people did not want to be photographed. I also noticed that when I told some people not to smile, they would just smile with no teeth so I had to tell them again, not to smile. Some changes I see were how different people looked when they smiled, because since I don’t know these people personally, I don’t usually see these people smiling. My bias could affect me being a photographer maybe because of how they look. When hired, I would ask the person I’m taking pictures of, what they like to do for fun Here is a link to my slide show.

Light Graffiti

We took pictures by sometimes painting the background or the people in the image. Sometimes it wouldn’t work to take the pictures because we didn’t have enough time to do everything we wanted.A frustration for us was that we would never know exactly where we were placing the light. We had people standing on chairs so some of the light graffiti would look like its actually high up in the air (for example, a cloud). Here is the link to our photo’s.

Rule of Thirds

My favorite people picture is the one of me carrying Lauren. My favorite picture of an object is the one of the plant. It worked if you lined up the object on the grid. It didn’t work when we had too many people on the line. I thought it was going to be easy to take the pictures and it was. I used the line on the far right. Here is the link to the pictures.

Infinite Background

For this project, we had to move the lighting and the person multiple times to make sure there were no shadows. For the white background, the person had to be right up on the background, and for the black background, the person had to be far away from the background and the light had to be right up in the persons face. If the person was right in front of the background, there would be shadows on the black background. Here is a link to all my photos.

5 Angles

For this project when we had to take pictures of objects and one person from five different angles. A challenge for this project was having to find an object that you would be able to find different angles of, and the angles wouldn’t be the same. The hardest object for me to take a picture of was the trash can because it’s a round object all around, so it would be hard to find different angles. This project helped me learn what different angles are and what angles are similar. Here is a link to all my images.
