Kitchen table

In this project we used a set that looked like a kitchen table to take pictures, each picture had a story behind it.

This whole genre of photos was created by Justin Bettman, the idea is to create a set in a public space, but the set has nothing to do with the place it is in. We created a set that looked like a kitchen table. The creator of this set idea is Carrie Ma Weems,      the  set idea is called  Kitchen Table Project. The photo shop tools I used were Marquee tool, Modify, feather and Inverse. this is what created the dark circle effect. If I were to choose a place that old my families story, I would choose the living room. Our family spends quality time watching movies there, when we go fishing we fix all the nets and rods there.  I would take Pictures of the couches, the tv and everything between because it all is tied to my family. If I were to take pictures you would see many things. My dad and brother in deep discussion, my sister playing on the floor with slime.

Action shots

This was a stressful project. We had to take 48 pictures in total, each picture had to have something moving in it.  We had to set the camera to manual, after we had to crop out the photos (Only 8 of them).  Something that helped was changing the shutter speed to a high setting, this helped because it made the camera take the pictures faster.  Also the positioning of the camera and the “action” mattered. You could ruin a great photo with bad angling. I would take a picture of mma. If you want to see more pics click here

7 days

I am thankful for being able to have free education. There are a lot of countries were education is limited, in other places children are exposed to so many bad things like drugs, crime and so many other things.
I am thankful for my religion. I believe that a persons religion reflects their values and beliefs. I consider myself very religious, most of the time when I make a choice or decision I always make sure it follows the guidelines or my religion.
I am thankful for books. I enjoy reading a lot, most people take literature for granted. There are a lot of places were its hard to find books or anything like that. I enjoy reading because you can forget all the stress and problems that you have while reading.
I am thankful for plants. Plants are the symbol of peace and purity in man cultures. We also eat plants and use them for clothes. Without plants the amount of oxygen would decrease a lot and well that would be a problem. A large majority of all the products in the world need a certain plant for there creation.
I am thankful for water. There are a lot of places were drinking the water there could kill you or at least make you sick. Water is used in almost all products in the world, whether it be drinks, food, medicine or so many other things.
I am thankful for medicine. Without it so many people I know would be dead. Medicine can bring someone back from the brink of death. Medicine can cure someone of depression or help people sleep. Without medicine the world would be a lot worse.

Smile

In this project it was hard to find people to photograph. We had to go through the whole building multiple times to find someone to photograph.  When the people smiled their eyes seemed to light up, they seemed to be “in their happy place.” If I knew the person then I might be biased towards them. If I have a low opinion of them I might subconsciously portray them in a bad way.  But if I have a high opinion of them the picture might make them seem cooler or heroic. The questions I would ask my client are things like what is your occupation or where do you want to work. I would also not ask questions too personal because that might affect how I make them look in the photo. To view more photos click here

Light Graffiti

In this project we created photos with Lights. To take the photo we changed the camera setting to bulb. We then held down on the button that takes photo’s.  This makes the camera track the light the whole time. So if you make a line with your light, a light appears on your photo. It was hard to make good original ideas,  also it was hard to communicate. There were 2 specific people who irked me. But making the photos was hard to, you can’t see the things that you are writing, you have to picture the image in your mind. Also our group barely made the deadline. Something that frustrated me was how some people were fooling around a lot. Something that could make this cooler is if we used mirror’s to reflect the light.

Rule of thirds.

In this project the things that worked are finding the ideas for the images, and it was easy to communicate. The hard part was matching up the lines. It was also hard to get the proper lighting. Inside the school we had to find good objects that are photo worthy.  In the beginning of this project I thought this would be easy,  by the end of the project I knew that there were so many other things that could affect the photo. For the lines I just imagined them first on the object or person being photographed. And then I used a setting on the camera that made the lines show up. Here are some more of the photos.

Portrait: Black

In this project I had to mess with the iso settings and the shutter speeds. I used a dial that affects the shutter speed. Shutter speed is how long the camera lens is  open. The longer the lens is open will make more light show up in the photo. If the lens was open to long then shadows would show up in the background and we can’t be having that. But if  the lenses were open to short then the person would start to disappear . It was hard to find a good pose. The poses had to show the persons face. But if  the person was at an angle it looked a lot better. So to combat this I took many photos with different shutter speeds and chose the best of them. If you want to see more photo’s click here

Portraits:White

In this project we had to take a picture of someone else. We also needed a photo of our self. We took the photos against different backgrounds with lighting. We also fiddled with the camera settings. We made the camera accept more light.    We also edited it in photo shop to make the lighting look better.  It was hard to make the lighting look good. The easy part was editing the photo’s. 5 Shots

In this project we took pictures of 3 objects. We took 5 shots per object and each shot had to be at a different angle. One of the biggest challenges were finding the objects. Another challenge was finding good angles. The hardest photo was taking photos  of the people. This is so because the person I used did not listen. This project helped me learn how to make my photos more interesting just by using the different angles. If you would like to see more of my photos click here

24 crayons PD1

In this project we had to take individual photos of 24 crayons with a matching background. We then had to upload the photos and create this post for them. One of the challenges of this project was finding matching backgrounds. Another challenge was making sure I had all the crayon photo’s. The easy part was taking the photo’s.  Here are 2 of my photo’s. If you would like to see more of my photo’s click here.
