Last Project

Photography was very fun. For the whole semester, we had very interesting projects. I’ve always loved photography so my opinions on it never changed. I don’t have a favorite project because I loved them all equally. I would really like to continue taking photography in high school. I really enjoy photography. Here is my favorite photo from this last project.

Getting Close

This assignment was very interesting. We had to take close-up pictures of living and non-living things. Using the app VSCO was very helpful and helped me get all the photos. It wasn’t difficult at all. I would like to photograph an ant up close if I could. Here are two of my favorite pictures, you can see the rest of them here.

Set in the Street

This assignment was very fun. We had to take pictures in a built kitchen scene and edit them to make it look like we were in a real kitchen. The built scene was inspired by the photographer Justin Bettman, you can check out his website right here. The kitchen and way of editing was inspired by the photographer Carrie Mae Weems. You can view her website here. When editing these pictures in PhotoShop, we used the black and white tool, the marquee tool, and the curves tool. If I wanted to tell my family’s photo, I would take a photo outside because my family loves nature. This is one picture of the built set zoomed out, and one picture of our finished photo. You can see the rest of my finished photos here

Catch The Action

This project was very interesting. We had to take pictures of people or objects in motion. When I used my phone camera, I used the burst feature and that helped me pick the perfect picture. One tip I have for people trying to do the same project as I did, is to have patience, and a lot of it. It is very difficult to capture the perfect picture at the perfect moment so you will need to try a few times. I would want to take a picture of someone doing a back flip, I think that is so cool. I have my 2 favorite pictures here, and you can view the rest of my pictures here

7 Days

I am thankful for my sister. She is 4 years old and in preschool. She always wants to play with me and always hugs me when she gets home. I appreciate that she gives me love and just makes me feel loved.
She always wants me to teach her how to write different words and is always eager for me to do so. I am thankful to have her as my sister.

I am thankful for my other sister. She is 6 years old and in first grade. She always draws pictures for me and always wants to hug me and say bye when I leave to go to the bus stop in the morning. I love how she is always happy when I come to her school. I am thankful to have her as my sister.

I am thankful for my mom. She is my favorite person in the world. I love her because she is very strong, a wonderful mother, a loving friend and overall just an amazing human being. She buys me food and clothes, and takes care of me. I am thankful that I have her as my mom.

I am thankful for the Let’s Learn students. Let’s Learn is the after school program I work at on Wednesdays. Whenever I am not there, the kids always ask about me and when I come, they are always excited to play with me. I really appreciate that the kids acknowledge me and always pose for the pictures I take. I’m happy I have these adorable kids in my life.

I am thankful for the world. I took a picture of the sky to symbolize life in general. Everyone is alive thanks to life and nothing would be possible without it. I am grateful that I exist and have family and friends that I love.

I am thankful for music. I took a picture of my earbuds because that is what I use to listen to music. I love music, I personally believe that it is one of the best things in the world and I can’t go one day without listening to music. I am very very thankful to have music in my life.

I am thankful for my aunt. She has been present all my life and helped my mom raise me before my mom married my stepdad. I love my aunt, she is caring, loving, funny, and always takes me places that I actually like. She is like a second mother. I am very grateful to have her in my life.

Smile Project

This assignment was very interesting. We had to take 2 pictures of 15 people, one with them smiling, and one with them not smiling, to show how stereotypes that you have can be proven wrong. I see that when a person smiles, they look friendly and someone you would want to approach. I think when a photographer lets bias get the best of them, it could effect the variety of photos that the photographer gets. I also think that in order to get good photos, a photographer should ask questions that will get their client in a good mood. Overall, this project was very fun and you can see all my photos here

Light Graffiti

This assignment was very fun. We experimented with different types of lights and created beautiful images. In order to acheive this, our group increased the shutter speed to 15 seconds so we had enough time to draw what we wanted until the picture was finally taken. A few things we had trouble with was drawing the actual pictures because we had poor drawing abilities. This is one of my favorite photos, you can see the rest of them here

Rule of Thirds

This assignment was very easy. We had to take pictures using the rule of thirds. In my opinion, pictures that were taken using the rule of thirds are very aesthetically pleasing. Using the rule of thirds is very fun and using the grid on my camera was really cool to do. These are my two favorite pictures, you can see the rest of them here

Portraits

This assignment was very fun. We had to take pictures of each other to make us look like the background behind us is black, but it’s not a physical background. It wasn’t very difficult to get the lighting right, but we had to work on making the background darker by editing the pictures. Here are two of my favorite pictures, but you can see the rest of them here

CAITLEEEEEN weird picture (^-^)

Portraits

This project was very unique. We had to take pictures in front of a completely white background and adjust the camera’s shutter speed and ISO to control how fast the camera lense opened and how much light shown through to the lenses. Later on, we worked on editing the photos to give the illusion of a completely white background that didn’t even look like a background. It was a bit difficult to get the lighting perfect, but using natural light and a dim lamp, the pictures came out great. These are two of my favorite pictures, but you can see the rest of them here
