I am thankful for my friends. Most of my friends I had just met in middle school. They are always there for me supporting me. I know when I am with them I will have a blast. It makes me sad to know that many of us will be separating in high school next year.

I am thankful for my sports teams. I have been on many sports teams these past few years. I have been on a couple basketball teams, a soccer team, a softball team, and a dance team. My teams are my second family. They are helpful, and even though I may not be the best at the sport they accept me and push me to do better.

I am thankful for my dog. My dog’s name is Nino, he is a 1 year old multi poo. We bought him in Florida on vacation. We had just gone shopping one day, little did I know we would be getting a dog. I knew from the second I saw him I fell in love, and after about 30min of convincing he was finally ours. He is very energetic and playful.

I am thankful for Greece. I have been going to Greece every summer ever since I was little. We have a house their on the island I am from, it is a small island called Andros just a 2 hour boat ride from Athens. Many of my family lives in Greece and I look forward to seeing them every summer. My favorite thing about Greece is the beautiful scenery and the food.

I am thankful for my family. I have 2 brothers one is a sophomore and the other just   graduated, I will miss him a ton when he goes off to college. I also have a mom and a dad who are always there for me. I am very grateful for my family and I love them with all my heart.

I am thankful for my culture. My culture consist of going to church every Sunday, Greek dancing, goya youth group, eating gyros, and celebrating Easter about a month later than everyone else. Most of these things may seem strange or embarrassing but to me it’s reality, it’s what makes me unique.

I am thankful for my education. Although I may complain a ton about having to go to school every morning, I am grateful to have the right to an education. I enjoy learning new things or working at something to become better. I love writing and reading , I struggle in math so I practice hours till I can succeed.  School has taught me many things and has brought me to were I am today. I can’t wait to see were it will take me later in life.

Action shots

This project is about taking clear pictures while someone or something is in action. I went around the school and asked people to do random stuff such as jumping in the air. Our goal is to focus on the person in action while everything around them is blurry. I used a burst of photos so that way I can catch the person at the best moment. We had no settings, however I would just tap to focus on the person or object before they do their action. I would photograph dancers, cheerleaders, or gymnast because I feel like they do the coolest actions.

Up close

We had to take up close pictures of objects, we used a visco filter or portrait mode on our phone so we can see the clear details of the object. This project was hard because sometimes if I got too close it would get blurry. If I could I would like to photograph waterfalls or insects.

Then I asked him to smile.

This project was difficult because most people would laugh when I told them to be serious and get embarrassed when I told them to smile. Most people looked more friendly/approachable when they smiled. When you are bias as a photographer you can miss an opportunity to take a great picture. If I was a photographer I would ask my client how would you want to come across.

Light graffiti

We used the ISO and F-STOPS setting on the camera. In order for the light drawing to show you need to use shutter speed, try to leave it open as long as possible. It worked to have multiple people draw the light so that way you can get more done in such a short period of time. It was frustrating when the people in the picture would move cause that makes it blurry and throws the whole picture. It was also frustrating when people from other groups would shine light on our project and mess up the picture. It would be cool to draw multiple figures at one time.

App review

Instagram- Instagram is used to post photos on your feed/page, you are able to see other peoples post if you follow them. There is a setting were you can switch your account to private, which allows you to know who sees you photos. There are also filters that you can use on your photos. You can also like and comment on others photos. It is my favorite because it lets me and my friends see each other photos.

Snapchat- Snapchat lets you send pictures to your friends and post on your story for others to see. If you keep sending photos to a person for more than 3 days you get a streak with them and it is your job to keep that streak. Most people have multiple streaks with their friends. You can also save photos to your memories and use one of the many filters they have. This is my favorite app because it allows me to easily communicate with my friends in a fun way.

Newseum

like how the photo showed a tragic story behind it, and I felt bad for the people. It also shows how things that seem small to us can effect others greatly.

Many of my grandparents were forced into the army. This solider looks unhappy and forced.

If I was a photographer I wouldn’t be able to take pictures without helping. However I would try to take harsh photos so people seeing it will feel the need to help. Photographers go through the struggle of feeling like their not able to help, they also have to choose between a great photo or helping someone in need.

My favorite exhibit was the 9/11 one.  There many newspapers so you could see the perspective of it from people around the country. I also thought it was cool to see a peace of the tower.

black background

We had to take pictures with a black background, you have to put the camera on a setting and put the spotlight on the person so there face shows. When we changed our light from an orange light to a bright one it worked better. It didn’t work to be in the center of the room.

Rule of thirds

Rule of thirds is when you line an object on a line grid with the third line.  It was easier to take pictures with uncrowded places cause there was no things in the background to distract from the object. It was harder to take pictures outside because people kept on walking into my pictures and that messed up the balance. It was also difficult to put the object perfectly on the third line, if you didn’t it would throw off the whole picture. I liked this project because it taught me to get creative with my photos and how to make a photo have depth.

White background

During this project we had to take photos using a white background without a shadow. We had to change lights from an orange one to a silver because it was making the background look orange. We figured out that being closer to the camera would make it focus on you and blur out the background, which made it look whiter.
