For this project, we had to “play” with Legos. This means that the subject of our photos was the Legos. I had to have the surroundings of the Legos to scale with the Legos. This means that it was not a Lego in a big world, it was a Lego in a small world, his world. I used techniques from my rule of thirds project, my getting close project, and my different angles project. Some parts of the project that were difficult to me was making sure that we were close enough to our Lego because if we weren’t, it would look like a Lego in a big world, not a small one. If I could, I would like to take a bunch of Legos, have them next to the barre, and make them dance. I would also love to take a picture of a Lego next to bugs, since the two are close in size. It would be like a massive bug! All in all, I didn’t really like this project that much because I am not the biggest toy person, but if you are, this project is for you!
Getting Close
During this project, I had to “Get Close” to my objects. This means we had to be about 1-3 inches away from our objects. We had to find different angles to find the exact spot we wanted our photo to look like. Some things that worked well for this project were that I had the perfect length between my camera and the object so it focused and I could see the textures of the object which was new for me and my photos. One challenge I had was that sometimes the subject was moving and I couldn’t get close enough to take an actual good photo. On the other hand, finding subjects was easy and I didn’t have any issues with my camera. If I could, I would want to photograph a jelly fish close up because their tentacles are so interesting. Overall, I really liked this project and it made me realize how many things I look at are so interesting when looking close.

Action Shots
In this project we had to take photos with our object in motion. An easy way to do this was having a person jump and taking the photo while they are in the air. To take the photo, I used “Burst Mode” which means I held the photo button down so it takes about 10-20 photos, depending on how long you hold the button down. This method made it easier to catch the action. Some tips that I have if you are taking action photos is that if you are taking a photo of someone jumping, bring the camera closer to the ground so the person looks like they are jumping higher. Another tip that I have is to, press on your object(on the screen) before the photo so the camera focuses on that object. If I could, I would love to capture gymnastics. I think it would be amazing if I caught someone dismounting off a beam, bars, or vault. All in all, this has been my favorite project and I love taking photos of people in action.

Framing Your Subject
This project was pretty easy for me. We had to use a person or an object and take a picture of them, while another object is framing them. For example, you could use a door frame and have a person inside the door frame. The door would be framing the person. The composition of this project differs with the rule of thirds one. For rule of thirds, the object is not the center and you see most of the background. This one, however, is normally the center and there really is no background. This photo is my favorite because I used a tree to frame her and I love trees. I also love it because the shadow falls really nicely on her face. Some challenges that I faced were making sure that the frame was interesting enough and not boring.

Rule of Thirds
This project was rule of thirds. Rule of thirds is when you take a photo, the object that first catches your eye is on one of the lines on the grid or one of the points. It is not supposed to be in the center! For me, it was easy to find the line for the object to be on, but hard to make sure everything in the background was straight and lined up. I really like this project and I learned how to make my photos more interesting. At the beginning of the project, I did not like it because it was so hard to make everything in the background straight. But I eventually got it down. In the photo above, I used the bottom horizontal line and in the one below, I used the two vertical lines. To conclude, I really liked this project and in the future I will use this more!

Portraits with an Infinite Background
This project was the hardest for me so far. We had to change our camera settings to manual so we choose everything. For this project, we had to change the Shutter Speed and ISO. Shutter Speed is how long the camera is taking the picture. You will know how long it is because it will take that long for the camera to click. The shutter speed for the white photo was quick and for the black it was longer. ISO is how much light is taken into the photo. For the white photo, we had to use a much higher one than the black. After we took the photo, we had to Photoshop them. For the white we had to make it lighter, and for the black we had to make it darker. Some things that worked for this project was the shutter speed. The shutter speed was the perfect time every time. The ISO, however, was very difficult. We had to adjust it for every person because everyone had different skin tones. It was hard to find the right one every time.

One Object, Five Shots
For this project, I had to find one object and find five different angles for each object. For example, one would be on the ground and another would be six feet from the ground. I had to do this for 3 objects so, a total of fifteen photos. A challenge during this project was finding a good background. On one of my photos the background had other materials in the photo and I had to change the background. The object that was the hardest to photograph was the person. You had to find the right angles to make them look better them normal. This project helped me find new angles and heights which all in all, made the ending photo better.

24 Colors
This assignment was to go around the school to find colors that match the colors of the crayons in our box. Some challenges of the project was finding every single color. A lot of the colors were hard to find, such as apricot, but in the end, I found them all. The easy part, however, was taking the pictures. Once you found the color it was easy to take the picture as long as you had the right angle.

My Logo
I get my photos for presentations, projects in school, etc. from Google. I do not contact the owner of the photo nor do I give credit to the owner because they will never see it anyway. On the same note, I would not expect people to give me credit or contact me because I do not do the same. It would be ridiculous if I would make people contact me or credit me. So instead, I have a logo on my images. My logo is a flat camera with the lens having my nickname, Jos, written on it. My real name is Josie but I prefer for people to call me Jos because everyone messes up my real name by saying Jozie. The easy part about designing my logo was choosing the colors because burgundy and black are my favorite colors. The difficult part was making it interesting enough, which I think I did not succeed in.
