#Prolevel

This semester was a pretty good one. I liked most of the projects we did and had fun while taking pictures. Overall, I rate this semester a 5/5. My thoughts didn’t really change about photography, because it really is just taking pictures. I have changed the way I take pictures, because now I look at lighting more and i try to use rule of thirds more when I take pictures with other people. My favorite project was close up because we got to go outside and take pictures. Photography doesn’t really interest me as a career, but I probably will take it again in high school.

7 days

The first thing  I am thankful for is my parents. I am thankful for them for so many reasons, but I will give a few. The first reason is that they provide everything I want. They always make sure I am fulfilled with whatever it is I want. They support me in everything I do no matter what, but most importantly they love me.

The next thing I am thankful for is water. Without water my body can’t function, and if my body can’t function I die. Shoutout to water for giving me life.

the next thing I am thankful for is my best friend Bianca. she supports me and is always there for me. Even though sometimes she can act a little slow, I still love her.

The next thing I am thankful for is my plant bowl Cornelius. Cornelius is a nice addition to my desk, so he might seem purely decorative, but he is much more. He is a legend.

The next thing I am thankful for is Mr.G. he gives great advice and really knows where hes going in life. He helps me out when I have problems and is a pretty cool dude.

The next thing I am thankful for is Sammi. Sammi is funny and nice, on occasion, and overall I don’t hate her that much so she made my list. Sammi also helped me a lot when was applying to private school, so shoutout to her.

The last thing I am thankful for is Sara. Sara has been my friend for a while and I know I can rely on her. Sometimes I hate her, but sometimes I don’t and this is one of those times.

Action shots

For this project we had to take action shots, or pictures of people in action. For this project I walked around taking pictures of kids. I had to wait for the right time to take the picture. I also had to make sure that the kids were in action. I would recommend getting an app to use for action shots, because your phone camera really sucks. If i could photograph a sport, I would photograph basketball.

Up close

For this task we had to take super macro or up close pictures. It worked well to be around 2 inches away and turn up my brightness. This made sure the pictures were in focus and the flowers were really bright. It was hard to find variety in my subjects instead of just plants. If I had everything I needed, I would have taken pictures of people’s eyes.

Smile Project

For this project we had to take pictures of people and ask them to smile. It was difficult to find people to take pictures of. When the person had a natural face, they typically looked either mean or somewhat happy. But when they smiled, they were a totally different person. Bias could affect your job as a photographer because if someone looks mean or un welcoming, you might not want to take pictures of them. I would ask them about themselves and their background to get to know them more.

App reveiw

The apps I chose were Vsco and Snapchat. The picture of my dog was taken on snapchat. On snapchat you can use the front and back camera and use the flash along with filters to take pictures.  This is one of my favorite apps to use because its really easy to use and its also a free app. The second app I chose was Vsco. On vsco you can take pictures and apply filters that you make yourself and upload them to your account.

Light grafitti

The first thing we had to do to take our pictures was change the shutter speed. We had to change it and make it longer, around 8-15 seconds. Then we had to use flashlights to “paint’ on the photo. It worked to have a shorter shutter speed, around 8 seconds and after we were done making the design, cover the flashlight. It didn’t work to have a long shutter speed and do a  super complicated design. It was frustrated failing over and over again at making a picture. I think to take this post to the next level we could’ve used more lights.

Newseum

The first picture I chose was of Babe Ruth in his final game saying goodbye. There were 500,00 fans that came to watch him and say goodbye to him. This picture makes me feel inspired because he inspired so many people that 500,000 people felt the need to go see him. It shows how influential people can be. I think i could take this picture, because even though it would be sad to see the end of his career, it would be a happy moment because of all the success he had.

The second picture I chose was “Ebola ravages in West Africa”. In the picture we can see 2 heavily suited up people carrying a child who is infected. this picture makes me sad because it shows how this disease affected everyone, young, old, and if affected people very greatly. it is also sad how people so young lives could potentially be taken from them. I would be able to take this picture because it is important for others to know how this affected people in West Africa.

My favorite exhibit was the 9/11 exhibit. This was my favorite because as something that is fairly recent that I personally never experienced, it was interesting to learn about. The image below is all of the magazines and newspapers featuring 9/11. I really recommend visiting this exhibit and the Newseum because you can learn so much about major events that have happened all around the world in an interactive way.

Rule of thirds

For this project we had to take rule of thirds pictures. It worked to line up the main focus of my picture on the lines. This is important because it is what the viewer will look at first, so it has to be something important. At the beginning of this project, I thought rule of thirds was easy, but at the end they are actually really hard to take. I used the lines to put whatever the focus is in my photo on them. My 2 favorite photos are below. The first one is of a red flower, and I lined up the flower to the line on the left. The second photo is of a light post in the sky, and I also lined it up with the left line.

White backrounds

To take photos with an infinite white background, there were a few settings we had to change. First we had to put the ISO up to allow more light in, and change the shutter speed to be longer to allow all the light in. It worked to have a slow shutter speed because the maximum amount of light could be let in. it didn’t work to have a low ISO because the pictures would be too dark.
