#ProLevel

This semester I have grown a lot. From the first picture I took of a crayon, to the most recent picture of things I am thankful for, I have grown a lot as a photographer. I learned that photography is harder than it looks, and it takes patience and time to get a good picture. I used to take photos casually, but now I think about the lighting and other things like that. My favorite project was “up close” because I took really good pictures, and it was fun. I find photography very interesting and I would enjoy it as a hobby, but I don’t think it is the right career for me.

Out of the whole semester, these two photos are my favorite.

7 days

I am thankful for many things, including:

1.) My friends Maya and Sahar, and Manhattan pizza because they all make me happy.

2.) My softball team because they are fun to be around and enjoy playing softball as much as I do.

3.) The video game fortnite because I enjoy playing it with my friends and my brother.

4.) My dogs Chrissa and Cody because they are cute and are very nice to me.

5.) My Grandpa and Aunt who I love very much.

6.) My friends Ellie, Sahar, and Kayla. I am thankful for them because I eat lunch with them and we share food.

7.) I am thankful for books because they are fun to read.

Action

The purpose of the project was to take pictures of moving objects. To take good pictures, I had to make sure I was still, so the only movement was the object. Taking action photos is difficult and it takes patience. I think it would be fun to photograph action photos of baseball or swimming.

Up Close

Finding interesting objects worked well. I liked taking pictures of nature and especially animals. It was difficult to take pictures because I didn’t have a phone (MRS YOUNGMAN TOOK IT). I would love to take more pictures of animals and flowers, all nature.

Light Graffiti

To take these pictures, first we had to set up the camera. The shutter speed had to be about 8 seconds. After that, to take the picture the model had to stand still, someone had to paint the picture, then someone had to use the light to create the “graffiti”. The light graffiti worked, but it was hard for some people to stay still. It was frustrating because sometimes other groups would flash their light into our camera, ruining the picture. If I did this project again, I would create cooler images and have more colored lights.

PHOTOGRAPHS:

The image that I found the most interesting was the 2014 Kenya mall massacre. A mother and her children were hiding behind a counter, during a shooting. I found this interesting because people are so worried about the school shootings in America, and shootings are occurring all over the world. Another image that I found interesting was an earthquake. 2 people were under a building, fixing all the damage. I think it would be extremely difficult to be a photo journalist. I think this because it would be so hard to go take pictures of people and not be able to directly help them. There are rewards of being a photo journalist, for example if you bring awareness to the project. Although photo journalist are very important, I don’t think I would be able to be one.

2nd EXHIBIT:

My favorite exhibit was the FBI section. I liked it because it was very interesting and I learned a lot while in it. It was mostly about terrorism which was sad but good to learn about so I can be more knowledgeable. My favorite object in the exhibit was the bomb that was placed in a shoe. I found this very cool because whoever made these bombs were very smart and creative (but also crazy). The shoe bombs were homemade which is why they were so amazing. Out of all the exhibits, the FBI section was my favorite.

App Review

The app I used to edit my amazing photos is VSCO. It lets you edit the photo in so many ways and can be bought on the app store for I phones. VSCO is used to edit photos and add filters to them. It is my favorite app because I can use it to make my photos more interesting

Rule of Thirds

In this project, using the grid to show the thirds worked well and was easy. What didn’t work was editing the photos because it was time consuming and going outside because it was freezing. I think the rule of thirds is very useful to photography and will make any photo 10 times better. I used the rule of thirds in the first photo, the photo of the vending machine. The machine was placed on the 2nd vertical third. In the second picture, the picture of Maya near the lockers, Maya was placed on the 1st vertical third.

White Background

In this project, I made the shutter speed very slow and let in as much light as possible by adjusting the settings on the camera. The modeling and poses worked. Megan was modeling in most of the pictures and it made them extremely interesting. It was hard to get the backgrounds perfectly white, but we did it in a few pictures.
