Average Joe’s

During these two semesters of school I have learned so many different ways of taking pictures. I have learned from other projects, creative ways to use color, composition, framing, and lighting. My thoughts have not changed about photography because I expected to make portfolios and blogs in this class. although at times some projects were complex. My ways of taking photos have changed they are more clear and have more elements involved in the picture. My favorite project was Set in the Street project because my group and i had fun decorating and setting up our theme/ story for the picture. photography does interest me as a career for parties or weddings. I will continue this class in high school because we get to explore new things and its fun to do.

Getting Close

In our classroom we have been taking pictures of large subjects. In this project I was assigned to go around our school and look for living and non living objects to take pictures up close. what worked out well was looking for objects or even patterns all around you to take an up close picture. Using VSCO for the first time was simple to use and self explanatory. You can look through all their wonderful filters to choose from and add to your picture. My challenges were making sure the pictures did not turn out to be blurry. Since the camera would be close up to the object I needed to set a focus point in order for the object to turn out clear and the background would blur out. If I had the equipment, time, and ability to go to a bakery I would like to photograph up close to yummy cupcakes. If you would Like to see more photos click HERE.

Set in the Street

In this assignment We had to create different scenes at a kitchen table on our “Street.” Our Photographer in this project was London. My group and I were inspired by Carrie Mae Weems and her kitchen table project using Justin Bettmen set in the street. The Photoshop tools I used in my pictures was the Black and White filter and darkened the top of the picture above the light. A place I would go to tell my families story is the beach such as Ocean City, because our family loves the sunsets and warm weather to take our photo. The photos would show what we do as a family which is walking on the boardwalk, surfing in the ocean, building a sandcastle, and eating sandwiches with boardwalk fries.

7 Days

This flower represents life. I am thankful for my life and who is in it, such as my family who love and support me.
I am Thankful for the clean water. Water helps keeps me hydrated and active. Water is a necessary need for an everyday life. Not only is water beneficial for your health but you can use it for cleaning.
I am thankful for the food we eat for the nourishment for our bodies. I appreciate the choices of food I’m able to get.
This Book represents Education. I am thankful for all teachers who put their time and effort into teaching their students. I am thankful for knowing how to read a good book in order to better my vocabulary.
I am Thankful for a teacher like Mr.Fitz who teaches us cool ways to capture moments on camera. Cameras film and take pictures for us to look back upon the moments in our life. without photography there would be no Rule of Thirds, no compositions, Adobe fireworks, Photoshop, and no more downloads to JPEG.
This is Jisella, a staff at GYC. I am thanful for jisella because she is fun to do activities with, such as playing UNO, or Headbands after school. Not only do we do activities together but she also helps me and others with homework.
Lastly I am Thankful for my little brother Tre. Tre is a bundle of joy, he can make you laugh when he does the most random thing ever. I love to have Tre who will forever grow with me.

Catch The Action

In this project my goal was to take 8-10 pictures of people or objects in motion. In the picture I had to make sure that the person or object did not turn out to be blurry. multiple pictures were taken by my IPhone when I hold down on the center white button. taking multiple shots is an efficient way because it will capture all the movement, and then you get to choose one out of the best. A tip I have is that its best to take a picture of something that is somewhat not to fast for you to miss the shot. Also to consider what ground is going to look. A sport i would want to photograph is basketball because there are many cool trick and shots to take. Click HERE for more photos.

Then I Asked Them to Smile

In this project we had to take pictures of 15 different people that we don’t know, one with them smiling and one without. The most difficult part was asking the person to take a picture without smiling, some were really good at it but others thought it was silly. When you see a person smile it gives you a friendly vibe. I realized being a photographer that seeing someone smile, restricts you from being bias. being a Photographer you may disengage with others based on how they you perceive them, but once you get to know the person theirs a chance you can become friends. When hired, I would engage more into my clients and share a little about me in order to give me a chance of taking fantastic photos. Click HERE to see my Photos.

Graffiti

To take the Graffiti photos my group went to to the gym with the lights turned off, cameras and our phones to use as the lighting the picture. On the camera we made sure to make the shutter 10 seconds longer so we can capture the shape of the light. What worked out well for the picture was having multiple people to draw. The difficult part was coloring yourself in because it was hard trying not to move without the help. Everyone in our group worked together to incorporate different ideas such as using different colored lights to spell out LPMS in a picture. click HERE to see more photos.

Rule of Thirds

What worked out really well in this project is lining up the object or person using the grid. What didn’t work well was not using a grid on the camera to make sure that everything is proportional. My thoughts on rule of thirds is that it makes a difference in having a balance of interesting elements in the image. The grid I used and positioned captured the person and objects interesting focal points. Click HERE to see more photos.

Portraits With a Black Background

In this project I had to work in a group, and we all had to work together to take 5 photos of each other standing in front of a black backdrop. We also included the way the lighting is shined onto the black backdrop to create suspense on the picture. What worked out well was catching the off guard moments taking the picture. The thing that was challenging is coming up with 5 different poses to do for our picture and ways to shine they light to be able to see the person in the dark. doing this project reminds me of the photos that would be put on for a magazine. click Here to see the rest of my pictures

Portraits with an Infinite Background

In this project I had to work in a group, and we all had to work together to take 5 photos of each other standing in front of the white backdrop. We also included lighting shined onto the white backdrop to brighten up the picture. What worked out well was catching the off guard moments taking the picture. The thing that was challenging is coming up with 5 different poses to do for our picture. doing this project reminds me of the photos that would be put on for a magazine.
