FINAL PROJECT!!!

Overall I think this semester of photography has been totally amazing. As a matter of fact this has been my favorite class, ever! It even beats gym which has been the reigning champ for the last 8 years! My thoughts have changed about photography. At first I thought photographers were creepy people, in bushes, taking photos. Now I realize that photographers are like artists that use the world as their canvas. I have definitely changed the way I take photos. I used to just click without thinking, but now I actually pay attention to what i’m doing. My favorite project was the smile , because I like talking to people while I take pictures of them. I’m not sure if photography interests me as a career, but definitely a hobby. I would love to continue photography in high school. That’s my favorite picture up there!!!

Up Close

For this assignment we had to take close up pictures of a variety of things. The pictures came out good when the camera was on super macro mode. Something I tried was putting the phone camera on portrait mode. The hard part of this project was trying to get super close to the different objects. Finding things to take pictures of was relatively easy. The only issue with the camera was trying to get it to stay on macro mode. If I had the ability to, I would like to take an up close picture of a single snowflake falling to the ground. You can see the rest of my photos Here.

Set In The Street

For this project we had to take pictures that told a story around a kitchen table. Just like  Carrie Mae Weems did in her photos. However, we didn’t use just any old kitchen table. We built our own! In the middle of the school. This idea was inspired by Justin Bettman who took seemingly normal pictures, until you look at the zoomed out version. In order to edit our photos we used photoshop. We made our pictures black and white, then using the elliptical tool and a couple fancy settings we made it look like the light truly was shining on the table. If I were to tell a story about my family, I would take pictures in the car because we love to go on long road trips, and we spend a lot of time in the car. You can see the rest of my photos Here.

Action

For this assignment we had to take a picture of something while it was moving. To get good pictures I made the shutter speed on the camera faster. A tip to get a good picture; Take photos in bursts, So if one’s not good maybe the other one will be. If I had the opportunity to, I would take a photo of someone getting chocked/kicked/punched during a UFC match. You can see the rest of my photos Here.

7 Days

My cat is important to me. He is always there when I feel lonely. His name is Bubba.

My Martial Arts are important to me. Specifically Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Kickboxing. They are important to me not because I like “hurting” people, but because I enjoy physical activities.

Traveling is important to me. I love going places. These are some of the things i’ve collected from places i’ve been.

My Friends are important to me. This is Shrila. She is my friend. Shrila is really weird but she’s still and always will be my friend.

This restaurant is important to me. This is my favorite restaurant. I like to eat the Mahi Mahi Tacos here. They are very delicious.

My family is important to me. My brother is soooo extra but he is still my brother.

Food is important to me. I Enjoy eating. I need food to survive.

Smile!

For this assignment we had to take photos of 15 different people, one smiling and one not smiling. When people weren’t smiling they looked either intimidating or dead inside. But then when they smiled they looked so much more happy and alive! Bias can affect your job as a photographer because you might want to take a picture of someone but they look intimidating, so you just don’t. They could be a really nice person for all you know, but they just don’t look friendly. Some people look more approachable than others. I would ask people what they like to do in their free time, because that can show a lot about their character. You can see my photos Here.

Light Graffiti

For this project we had to use lights to draw things in the dark. On the camera we used there was the bulb setting so instead of changing our shutter speed to stay on longer, we just held the button down until we were done drawing. Once we held the button down we drew things using flashlights and some LED lights. The hard part about this assignment was getting people to stay still when we “painted” them. The easy part was being able to hold down the button for however long we wanted. To take this project to the next level I would suggest taking multiple photos of the same scene and combining them to make a short stop motion film. You can see the rest of my photos Here.

Rule of Thirds

In this project we had to use this imaginary grid to take photos. The hard part was taking pictures without people in it. The easy part was lining up the grid in the pictures. The lines we used look kind of like tic tac toe lines. the object or scene had to line up with these lines. You can see the rest of my photos Here.

Portraits

In this project we had to take pictures of each other that had a black background with no shadows. We made the shutter speed slower in order to let more light in. The easy part was being creative when taking the pictures. The hard part was getting rid of all the shadows. You can see the rest of my photos Here.

Portraits

In this project we had to put our cameras on manual mode and use certain settings such as the ISO and F-stop to get more light in our pictures. For the editing of the pictures we just cropped some corners. The hard part about this project was getting the background to be light. The easy part was messing around with the settings.
